Palacio de Bellas Artes

Hace unos días visité el gran Palacio de Bellas Artes, uno de los mas importantes recintos culturales en México. La construcción del palacio comenzó 1904 y surgió como una idea para conmemorar el centenario de la independencia de México, tras pasar por manos de varios arquitectos y varias suspensiones  el edificio fue oficialmente inaugurado en 1931.

En un principio Bellas Artes fue considerado como el teatro nacional y unicamente presentaba espectáculos teatrales, además servía como escenario para producciones cinematográficas mexicana, actualmente, el palacio presenta no solo teatro si no también exposiciones de pintura, escultura, arquitectura, famosas operas, conciertos musicales y destacables producciones de ballet.

Some days ago I visited the grate Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of the most important cultural venues in Mexico. The construction of the palace began in 1904 and resulted as an idea to commemorate 100 years of Mexican independence, after the construction passed around several architects and suspensions, the building was finally opened in 1931. 

At the beginning the palace was considered the national theater where only theater plays were presented, later the palace opened its gates to be part of different sceneries for mexican movies. 

Dentro del palacio de Bellas Artes me encontré con una pequeña exposición "Palacio de bellas artes en el cine... imagenes y sensaciones" donde, con folletos y publicidad antigua, nos cuentan un poco mas sobre las presentaciones mas importantes que ha albergado éste bello monumento.

Currently, Bellas Artes presents not only plays but also painting, sculpture, architecture, opera, music and ballet exhibitions. 

During my visit I came across with a mini exhibition that shows, trough old brochures, photos and advertisings,  a little bit more about the most important presentations that the palace hosted in the past.

Para mi look decidí usar la tendencia blanco y negro ya que es una de mis favoritas, es un estilo informal pero creo que la combinación refleja la elegancia del Palacio de Bellas Artes. 

For this look I decided to use the black and white trend because it is one of my favorites this season, it is a casual style but I think that with the black and white I was able to reflect the elegance of the palace.

"La Lonja Mercantil" es un espacio en el que se reúnen los diferentes ámbitos del diseño y gastronomía mexicanos. Este mercado ofrece artículos increíbles y únicos. Tuve la oportunidad de asistir a la 11 edición, me pareció un lugar y ambiente increíbles, en el cual pude admirar el trabajo de distintos diseñadores y sus propuestas, así como probar un buen mezcal. Les recomiendo mucho que asistan a la próxima edición de La Lonja Mercantil, podrán encontrar artículos muy llamativos e interesantes, así como un buen café o una nieve. 

"La Lonja Mercantil" is a space that meets the different fields of design and mexican cuisine. This market offers incredible and unique items. I had the opportunity to attend the 11th edition, it is a very nice place, where you can admire the work of various designers and their proposals and try a good mezcal. I highly recommend attending the next edition of "La Lonja Mercantil" you can find very interesting items and good coffee or ice cream.

Polyforum Siqueiros

El Polyforum Siqueiros es un lugar donde se realizan diferentes actividades culturales, en las que destacan las obras de teatro y exposiciones artísticas. Este recinto adquirió este nombre debido al gran mural que tiene en su exterior, el cual fue revelado en 1971. Este mural realizado por el pintor y muralista mexicano David Alfaro Siqueiros, quien quería expresar las ideas de libertad y justicia en Latinoamérica. En esta ocasión tuvimos la oportunidad de presenciar las obras e instalaciones artísticas de Anibal Catalan.

Les recomendamos ampliamente visitar este hermoso edificio, el cual contiene una gran expresión artística.

The Polyforum Siqueiros is a place with different cultural activities, which include plays and art exhibitions. This museum acquired this name because of the large mural that is on the outside, which was revealed in 1971. This mural by the Mexican painter and muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros, expresses the ideas of freedom and justice in Latin America. This time we had the opportunity to witness the works and art installations of Anibal Catalan.

We highly recommend visiting this beautiful building, which contains a great artistic expression.

Wise Kings

       

Aquí en México existe una tradición en la que compramos una "Rosca" (parece una dona enorme), que tiene muñequitos en ella. Cada persona tiene que cortar su propia rebanada, y si él / ella descubre uno de los muñequitos, tiene que invitar los 'tamales' el dos de febrero. Se trata de una tradición muy divertida, que se puede compartir con los amigos o la familia.

Here in Mexico there is a tradition in which we buy a 'Rosca' (looks like very big donut), that has little dolls in it. Every person has to cut their own slice, and if he/she finds one of the little dolls he has to invite the 'tamales' on February 2. It is a very fun tradition, that you can share with friends or family.
